Kill Bill... Bill has to go

Flip a coin and take your pick. No matter what you choose, heads or tails, bill is always there to steal your thrill. From the most exciting times of life to the saddest times, bill will always be there at any given time. If you open the door to kick him out, Bill will return with his beloved relative, Uncle Sam to destroy your home and eat your ham. When Bill returns and Uncle Sam is gone, they leave us alone waddling in our tears with no one to dry our weeping eyes, just for you to return back to him.

When we pass on to the other side, bill continues its legacy by being passed on to your beloved ones. Simply put, Bill has always been there and has created its own will to take charge of your life. In the words of Bishop C. R. Davis, Jr., "we are all in a relationship with Bill". This is a toxic relationship that is one sided only to benefit bill and enslave you and me. This is a place of loneness, despair, heartbreak and pain. Bill has ruined many lives and marriages. Bill targeted the poor, broke the middle class but over fed the rich. Therefore, we must break away and set ourselves free. Free from Bill.

As a believer of Christ, we know that killing is wrong. However, as a believer in Christ we must turn things around and kill bill. Just like Uncle Sam, Bill was created to keep us in bondage, and we must learn to survive this game of life by breaking free from our captivity.

Now, when I say to kill bill, I am not speaking of a person but the entity of bondage. Therefore, you do not have the right to take life. The Most High said within the Ten Commandments that "thou shall not kill".

The term "Kill Bill" comes from a series of movies based on revenge. That is not what I am speaking of here. The term Kill Bill 124 refers to the Ontario government and the effects on how people will receive pay increases or not. Nevertheless, to lessen your curiosity, I am speaking of the bills that we accumulate throughout our lifetime.

First of all, we must accept the fact that it is ok to release ourselves from the grips of bill. We must set ourselves free in order to live our best lives. Below, I am going to discuss with you four ways that we can get rid of Bill.

         1.  Break bill by paying him no interest. Bill thrives off interest. Now, interest goes two ways, and I am going to discuss with you both ways. First of all, Bill captivates you and me by obtaining our interest. Through its marketing strategies, Bill obtains our interest on a product to convince us that our lives will be better and easier with this new gadget that he is promoting. Once he obtains our interest, we begin to believe that we can't live without it and there we go. We are the saints going marching right into Bill's hands by going into Bill's establishment to purchase what he is selling. We are uncontrollably charging another debt causing us to fall into Bill's sinkhole of debt. At this point Bill leads us intentionally into the second phase by building its wealth on the interest we must now pay. This time we are not just paying with our attention, but we are paying with our hard-earned money. We must stop bill, by paying him no interest. Deuteronomy 28:12 says The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow".  We can break bill by not borrowing. Every time we charge an item, we are becoming borrowers. We must stop borrowing and join the lender's league team. Break bill by becoming the lender and not the borrower.

“The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.”

        2. Interchange your banker. Now we are all well aware of the banks receiving interest off the monies that we have in the bank. The longer our money sits in its establishment, the more the banks make off of the interest it obtains from our money. In today's world the banks can choose to give you your hard-earned money or like Wendy Williams, they will babysit your money without any care of your sweat and tears that you had to put in along with the amount of time you had to work just to earn your paycheck. However, Haggai tells us that we put our money into pockets with holes in them. "Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes. (Haggai 1:6). We have trusted others with everything that we have; only for them to fail us. We have invested in many avenues that were meant to lead us out of poverty only to push us further into the pit of poverty.

We have been gaol into imprisonment by our wants and needs. No .not physical imprisonment but enslaved and victimized by luxury and materialism. Kanye West said it best, "America is for sell, buy land. America has a lot of barren land". Jesus said, "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also" (Matthew 6:21). In which this leads me to the next point.

Invest in your faith. Since we have been around the mulberry bush several times in our lifetime then we should be open for the ultimate change. Now, is the time that we make the decision to invest in our faith! After everything that the LORD has brought us through and after all the uphill battles that the LORD had to fend for us in order for us to go through our battles unharmed. Now, right now is a good time to switch our investments because we have the grand opportunity to invest into something of value. It is now time to invest in our faith. After all, in the end it will pay off. Matthew 17:26 Jesus told Peter, However, we don't want to offend them, so go down to the lake and throw in a line. Open the mouth of the first fish you catch, and you will find a large silver coin. Take it and pay the tax for both of us." It's a very good thing that Peter was obedient to the LORD. Otherwise, they will still be owing taxes because if he was like some of us, Peter would have said *"as long as I owe them, they'll never be broke".

         3.   Level the playing field. Everyone loves a good game. Notice that I said a "good game". This is a game without favoritism, without head starts and cheats. Everyone in the game are truly game players by heart and the rules are fair and the judges are just. In my opinion, this is a good game. Therefore, get rid of your old way of thinking and obtain the mind of Christ. In the New Living Translation, scriptures tell us to "throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitude. Put on your new nature, created to be like God- truly righteous and holy (Ephesians 4:22-24).

        4.  Live on bare necessities. We can kill bill by living a minimal lifestyle. If we learn how to live on necessities, then we can slash bill out of our life. Honestly, we are like a herd of Bisons at Yellowstone, charging our way to the nearest store every time something new comes out. In my opinion, if we slash our wants, then the less we will become like a heard of Bisons. The less we will charge our credit cards that eventually places more stress on our bodies and budget.

Jesus came and died to set us free from bondage. Therefore, we cannot be selfish and place ourselves back into captivity to satisfy our wants. We have to obtain and maintain self-control. Yes, we can do it because "we can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (us). We cannot be free by living in imprisonment for lack of self-control. Remember, “Whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down, without walls (Proverbs 25:28)". I know that we can get overwhelmed with fear and worry about the "what if" in life. For instance, what if there's a food shortage? What if I get laid off? What if my car breaks down? However, we must be encouraged that "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7)". We have power so let us walk in that power.

Do not be overtaken by bill. Do not let bill capitalize its wealth on your back. Do not let bill place stress on you. You can win. Actually, with Christ you have already won. We can only lose if we give away our power by our lack of self-control. Control our wants and don't let your wants control you. Otherwise, stress can lead to something much worst. Some people pack on the bills with addictions due to stress. We cannot allow our wants to put such burdens on ourselves and others. Let us watch and pray for one another. 1 Peter 4:7 says, "but the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober and watch unto prayer". Soon none of these things what we are longing and fighting for will no longer matter. The only thing that will matter in the end is Christ. Without Christ and without the seal of the Holy Spirit then our souls will be lost. What will it matter to obtain the whole world and lose your soul?

"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"

Therefore, slash our wants then we will slash our bills to kill bill. Therefore, I encourage you and I to strive and thrive off of necessities and let everything else go. There is hope for every problem and situation. Christ is that hope
